About Prophet Mohammed
Prophet Mohammed was born in a tribe called “Quraish,” By the time he turned 6 years-old, he had lost both his mother and father and thus, he had to live with his grand father who passed away soon after. Therefore, Prophet Mohammed had to live with his uncle “Abu Talib” who was a father of 12 children.
Mohammed had to work as a Sheppard to live and his life was not an easy one. Nevertheless, in his tribe, he was known to be honest and thus, nicknamed “The honest.” Mohammed was taking care of his cousin “Ali,” who is the son of Abu Talib. As Mohammed grew up, he worked in trade and excelled in it. Therefore, “Khadija Bintu Wahab,” a wealthy woman asked him to marry her and he agreed.
Mohammed married Khadija when he was 25-years-old and got from her “Fatima Alzahraa,” who later on married Ali, who was known to be Mohammed’s closest friend and companion.
Mohammed and Islam
Mohammed became a prophet when he was 40 years old. He use to go frequently to a cave called “Ghar Heraa,” to think about life, God and creationism. It did not make sense to Mohammed that people should worship statues as his tribe did, and thus, he really wanted to know the truth.
When Mohammed was 40 years old, and when he was in his cave, he was called by God’s messenger “Gibrail” and was told to “read.” Mohammed did not know how to read or write and thus, he was shocked to hear someone telling him to “Read.” In fact, this word was the first word of the Qoran as an indication to the importance of education in Islam (Alalaq).
It was not an easy thing to spread Islam, for calling for one God was a crime in a tribe that worshiped statues that they made, sold and made a lot of money from. Therefore, Mohammed was fought and was offered tremendous amounts of money to stop calling for Islam; however, he insisted on calling for this religion that gave equal rights to all people; male and female, black and white, poor and rich…
Three years after Mohammed became a prophet, he departed to the “Madina” to spread Islam there. He was admired and Islam became the dominant religion in that city very soon after Mohammed came to it; however, this did not stop many tribes from fighting Mohammed, whose religion was a threat to them and to their authority. They sold statues, they had slaves and they berried infant females, while Islam rejected all these acts and said that all people are equal to God (Alhujorat).
Mohammed’s first official war was called “Badr,” where his army numbered a lot less than the enemy, but he had to do it, since they were attacked. Fortunately enough, Muslims won the battle and got to take prisoners from the enemy’s part.
As a condition to liberate all prisoners, Mohammed offered prisoners freedom if each educated prisoner teaches 10 uneducated Muslims. This was an impressive offer, for at that time, prisoners were sold in markets as slaves and were treated horribly.
Mohammed married several times after the death of his beloved wife Khadija; however, he never had many wives at the same time.
Prophet Mohammed passed away when he was 63 years old after struggling with sickness for sometime. Contrary to that some haters try to say that Prophet Mohammed was poisoned, but this has nothing to do with the truth.
