**::ISLAM AND EDUCATION::**
When you first hear the word Qoran, this should be enough to explain how important education is in Islam. The word Qoran itself means “Recited.” Furthermore, the first word of the Qoran is “Read” (Qoran 096.001). This is not all, for in (Qoran 088.017,18,19, 20), the Qoran tells people to look and observe, and what is this other than telling people to study and learn? Moreover, the Qoran itself is an important source for learning science, language… And In fact, Qoran was and is still considered to be a lingual miracle.
Moreover, Qoran is not only about statements telling people what they should do and what they should not do, but it also gives them clear catalog to how they should behave, in order for them to have the best possible life (Sayyed Nasrallah, January 2007). Some might think that Qoran makes its instructions to humans based on nothing, or just because God wants to make life harder for his creations; however, this has been proved wrong, and again, education in Islam bright, for it had pointed out some stuff that were not known by humans until the recent years.
Alcohol, for example, is strictly prohibited in Islam, and this is emphasized in many verses of the Holy Book. Nevertheless, people choose not to listen, and thus, choose to harm themselves with this poison that according to all sane doctors destroys the liver, and negatively affects other body organs. Moreover, as known, when humans get drunk, they lose their reason, and often act irrassionally. What is worse than drunk-driving, rape, murder…? All of these actions may be easily committed when a person is drunk.
Gambling is the same. It is prohibited in several verses of the Holy Book, and today, everybody knows how bad gambling is. It often leads people to bankruptcy, make humans kill each other, for when people lose in gambling, they insist on playing more and more, hoping that they will make up their losses. Nevertheless, this rarely ever happens, but instead, those people lose more and more, until they find themselves bankrupts. How could these people live as bankrupts after having known wealth? Therefore, the natural result is that those people either kill those who won their money, steal, or worst of all, commit suicide, and often take the lives of their families with them before they take their own lives. It would be worth to mention that the Qoran did not dispute any possible benefit for alcohol and gambling, but it clearly said that their (alcohol and gambling) hurt more than help, and they harm people, and thus, people should not approach them.

Moving to other educational facts in Qoran:
* A thousand years before people reached the space; the Qoran told its readers that as you go up higher in the space, oxygen decreases, and thus, people can suffocate.
*As to how earth looks, this is also mentioned in the Qoran, a thousand years before people agreed to acknowledge such fact.
*The Qoran also spoke about the Big Bang that had taken place millions of years ago. It clearly states that the sky and sun were one, and were separated by the Providence.
Least and not last
*The Qoran describes how light can be more bright, and thus shines and lights more when it is placed in a special shaped glass.
All of these facts show how much education is valued in Qoran, for if education was not with a huge value in Islam, the Qoran would not have spoken about all of these scientific things that took scientists hundreds of years to discover. Also, these are very few examples of Education in Islam, and if people were to study Qoran without prejudice, and with open-mind, they will find it the religion that is most supportive to education.

**::ISLAM AND EDUCATION::***
On the other hand, Prophet Mohammed and his grand children always showed interest in education and told Muslims to learn.
After the battle of Badr, Prophet Mohammed set one condition to liberate the POWs. He told every educated POW to teach ten uneducated Muslims how to read and write. One who does not know about that era would not realize the significance of such step. At that time, POWs were sold in the slave-markets, or enslaved for those who captured them. Contradictory to all of these traditions, Prophet Mohammed set all the POWs free after they taught uneducated Muslims how to read and write.
On the other hand, Emam Mohammed El-Baqir, Jaafar El-Sadiq, Moussa El-Kathim… were known to be teachers who taught science to those who were interested. Perhaps one of their most known students today is, Jabir Bin Haiian, who discovered Algebra, and was a bright scientist in Chemistry as well.
Moreover, Emam Ali, the Cousin of Prophet Mohammed and the main Islamic leader after the Prophet once stated “Two do not get full, one who wants education, and one who wants money.”
Aren’t all of these evidence and examples enough to prove how important education is in Islam? We shall leave this to you (the readers) to decide on your own and choose what to believe.
